A brief introduction
Before I even mention the word money or budget I must tell you the size of the task that we face.
The house was never in danger of falling down but it had been suffering from a leaky roof, missing windows, ancient electrics, mishmash plumbing and some pretty dodgy floorboards (in part due to leaky roof and missing windows).
The external plaster is not in great shape and in places the internal plasterwork arbitrarily decides to relieve itself of its position on the wall.
The internal paintwork upstairs has been renewed ubiquitously with Adzesti a form of local lime white wash which forms a slightly powdery skin on the walls and isn’t ideal for long term good health.
And we have a brick and concrete bomb shelter built inside (yes, inside where our bathroom is intended to be) with two foot thick walls and reinforced cement lid!
Add to that the need for new bathrooms and a decent kitchen I am only now beginning to realise by virtue of writing such an extensive resume of requirements how big this job is. I should have done this last year and possibly before we even bought the place.
But you cannot under estimate the power of love.
Now this normally isn’t required as a precondition in the building game but without it this project wouldn’t even have got off the ground.
I cannot over emphasise how much this house is loved.
And it’s going to be needed………
